Orchid door

orchids in bloom at the nursery

I grew orchids as a teenager but after a fuse blew and my collection froze, I stayed away from orchids for many years. However, in the past several years I have begun growing them again and with the advent of cooler nightime temperatures, the flowers are coming. One of the doors at the nursery is a place where I hang some of those in bloom for everyone to enjoy. With a nursery specializing in conifers and unusual woody plants there are few flowers in the nursery itself – though it remains colorful with the various shades of green, yellow, blue and red. Orchids bring a pop of brilliant color and shapes.
